Semekor Performing Arts presents SHADOW FROM THE PAST ...a myth of a patriarchal Africa, and the true strength that lies beneath. Powerful and sensuous movement, combined with live music create a gripping theatrical dance piece.

First performed on Monday 6th February 2006, at the Robin Howard Dance Theatre as part of Resolution! 2006

What the reviews said;

"Shadow from the Past is a vibrant work for five dancers. The sensuous African dance and its complex rhythms are contagiously physical...all the dancers are totally convincing."- Josephine Leask, 7 Feb 06

"With its colourful and entertaining choreography complemented by strong costume and lighting, Semekor Performing Arts' Shadow from the Past was a great piece of rhythmical dance. From duets to the ensemble of all five dancers, the energetic and at times sensual moves told a vivid story of harmony and conflict...the five dancers gave a strong and sure performance throughout." - Roberto Ekholm, 7 Feb 06

"This metisse, or hybrid, of African and conventional contemporary dance is performed skillfully and it is evident of a rich African Diasporaic experience" - Thea Nerissa Barnes, March 2006. Criticaldance.com
