Mohammed Dordoh

 

 

Semekor Performing Arts is led by Mohammed Dordoh who has been performing and teaching for over 20 years. In 2005, Mohammed toured the UK in Collective Artistes Theatre Company's critically acclaimed production of The Lion and The Jewel by Wole Soyinka. During this production, Mohammed worked with renowned director Chuck Mike, and international choreographer and dance artiste Koffi Koko. Previously, Mohammed was lead dancer in Strictly African Dancing (BBC1). He was also a principle performer and choreographic consultant for the musical Sundance, at the Hackney Empire. 

 

From 1998 to 2005, Mohammed was principle dancer and rehearsal director with Adzido Pan African Dance Ensemble. With Adzido, Mohammed toured the UK, Europe and Africa in Footsteps, Silk, Sankofa, Chesa Chesa, Secrets of Makaleng, Yaa Asentewa, and Spirit of Oking. Mohammed has choreographed for Aklowa Dance Ensemble, Nzinga dance, Adanta, BEN TV and OBE TV. With Semekor Performing Arts, Mohammed choreographs new work using traditional and contemporary African dance forms, and runs regular dance and drumming courses across London and the UK.
